Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
As a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) therapist, I see ketamine as a powerful tool for healing and transformation. Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has been safely used in medical settings for decades. In lower, controlled doses, it has profound therapeutic effects, helping individuals access deeper layers of their consciousness, process emotions in new ways, and create lasting shifts in thought patterns.
Unlike traditional antidepressants, which can take weeks to work, ketamine has a rapid impact on mood and neuroplasticity—meaning it helps the brain form new connections. This can be incredibly valuable for people struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health challenges.
In a therapeutic setting, ketamine helps quiet the inner critic, reduce resistance, and open the door to insights that might be difficult to reach in regular talk therapy. It creates an opportunity for people to explore their inner world in a unique way, with curiosity and self-compassion, often leading to breakthroughs that help them move forward in their healing.
The ketamine journey itself is just one part of the process. The real transformation happens through integration—making meaning of what happened in the journey and appliying the insights to your daily life.
